While on vacation in Hawaii, founder Jeremy Bank (a New Zealander) and his young daughter noticed something in the sand: flecks of blue microplastic waste. Further, Jeremy was shocked to see how much trash, including old shoes, was washing up on the once pristine beaches of Hawaii. Seeing pollution affecting one of the places he enjoyed when he was younger sparked concern for his children and future generations. He asked himself why all this pollution was happening, and why something could not be done about it? From this moment Jeremy began a journey to create the most sustainable footwear brand, disrupting traditional ways of making sneakers. After 3 years of R&D YY Nation was launched with the world lowest carbon footprint sneaker. Founder Jeremy Bank say’s “these are the worst shoes we will ever make” because at YY we continually innovate and find better and more sustainable solutions.
