BLOOM is a named Actor in the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration’s aim is to prevent, halt, and reverse the degradation of ecosystems on every continent and in every ocean. It can help to end poverty, combat climate change, and prevent mass extinction. It will only succeed if everyone plays a part.
Thousands of small entities, businesses, and individual entrepreneurs play a prominent role in the global restoration movement and in building a restoration economy.
Actors for the UN Decade are usually private sector entities (Small and Medium Enterprises) or non-for-profit entities who are actively developing restoration programs and advising, supporting, or facilitating restoration activities on the ground.
BLOOM’s approval as an Actor, after a review process of our practices, is a prestigious recognition of our dedication to the critical mission of restoring the world’s ecosystems.
BLOOM’s Life Cycle Assessment has been third-party conducted and industry peer-reviewed.
From the executive summary:
Based on the results and study assumptions, methods and data, on a kilogram for kilogram basis, the algae-blended masterbatch with EVA, TPO, and SBS resulted in lower environmental impacts than EVA, TPO, and SBR, respectively, in the human health, ecosystems, resources, cumulative energy demand, and climate change categories, with a high degree of certainty. The algae-blended masterbatch with SBR has fewer environmental impacts in the climate change categories, cumulative energy demand, and human health than conventional SBR.
BLOOM’s Algae-blended EVA, TPR, and TPE contain at least 45% recycled content as verified by SGS as complying with the definition of recycled materials as Pre-consumer or Post-consumer in ISO 14021:2016.
